The Story of the municipality of starts around 1789 when King Maria I of Portugal, through a Royal Charter, instructed the Viceroy Luiz de Vasconcelos e Souza that promotes the onset of the catechesis of the Indians called Crowned, who here has constituted a core of incipient settlement. The first land owners in their fight tireless explorers, told with the help of forestry acculturated, and failing that, and then with the strong arm of the black race, which in a joint effort, helped the settlement of civilization was installed and also walked inland.
